The sculpture ¨The Children and the Turtle¨, was the second sculpture of the master Carlos Terrés, on the boardwalk of the city of Cozumel, on the island of the same name in Quintana Roo. It is a work elaborated in bronze under the procedure of the lost wax, this beautiful work of art makes mention to the cultural wealth and Mexican traditions, that through the popular games were practiced for generations in the origin of the island. Before modernity and the internet, it was an ideal and fun way to spend time with family and friends.
In this sculpture that represents children playing the “punished donkey”, the form of fun and coexistence that was the reflection of the Mexican identity is expressed.
Based on symbols and forms, this sculpture reflects the importance of preserving our cultural roots and promoting the joy of friendship, respect and imagination to the visitor who comes to this paradisiacal island of Cozumel.
