MONUMENT TO DR. ADOLFO ROSADO SALAS.

LONG LIVE VALDÉS, VEUDI. (2023). NOTES AND RESEARCH – HISTORIAN CHRONICLER OF COZUMEL. INTERVIEW CONDUCTED BY THE DIRECTORATE OF TOURISM AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF COZUMEL

Military doctor born in Mérida, Yucatán in the year 1892, he studied medicine in his homeland, he arrived in San Miguel de Cozumel in the year 1928, when he was part of the staff of the Sanitary Section of the Navy; when he was Sent to work in Isla Mujeres, he submitted his request for leave and returned to San Miguel de Cozumel where he lived the last 15 years of his life. 

He lived in a free union with Mrs. Margarita Marrufo Villanueva with whom he had no children. His life dedicated to providing relief to the sick, helping them regain health, created in the collective consciousness of the people the image of someone irreplaceable for his kind treatment, his professionalism, his tireless work with a schedule of availability 24 hours a day, without days off, generally attending to everyone at all hours and any day without distinction of social class or economic level and for the consideration with which he always distinguished the poor from whom he never charged for his services or the medicines that he himself prepared.

He was known by his maternal surname, Dr. Salas, the people elevated him to the category of benefactor of San Miguel de Cozumel and upon his death on April 3, 1943, this monument was erected and this street was registered with his name.

A mourner town attended his funeral and accompanied him to the San Miguel cemetery where his remains rest.
