Engineer Pedro Castellanos himself, sponsored by General Rafael E. Melgar, Governor of the Territory (1935-1941), directed the construction of an esplanade located 100 meters south of the dock, which has become an afternoon meeting point for enjoy the colorful sunsets that the sun gives us at sunset.
Also and officially, it is a site for the development of commemorative civic ceremonies and since the nineties, a monumental flagpole was erected where on the first Monday of each month the official raising ceremony is held with the participation of civil, military and school students.
The remodeled pier, different from the original, the esplanade, the boardwalk and a new esplanade 100 meters to the north, built in the nineties with a fountain dedicated to diving, are part of the panoramic view that characterizes our city.
